Painted garden rocks on grass
Garden rocks got a new colour on a painting day last year.

The 10th of July is a recommended Flag Day for Finnish visual art and the birthday of Finnish painter Helene Schjerfbeck (1862-1946). It’s become a habit to paint outdoors together during the day across Finland. This year the main event, The Great Painting Event, will be virtual but outdoor painting can be done even from you back yard, and small events takes place. Just take care of the safety of yourself and others.

If it is going to be a rainy day or can’t make it this year, with Uniarts-account you may use our library’s e-collections of visual arts remotely. These are available even if the services of physical library is on a summer holiday. Self-help for the using our Fine Arts collections can be found from Fine Arts library guides. From the database list you find our visual arts databases. Use filters if you need to limit your list to the Fine Arts resources.

Many books about Helene Schjerfbeck are on the library shelf as well, and you are welcome to come and borrow them again after the summer holiday.
