Wayfinding screens to help the library user
The library’s new wayfinding screens help find materials and services.
The library has acquired wayfinding screens to help in locating materials and services. Touching the screen opens a map showing, for example, the location of the library classes in the shelves or other services you might need, such as toilets, printers and computers.
Maps can be found on both floors of the Sörnäinen and Töölö Campus Libraries. The maps are installed at such a height that they are accessible for wheelchair users.
You can find the shelf location of library materials in the search service Arsca. The wayfinding screen will help you locate the right shelf in the library premises.
The maps are designed by Jan Rosström, graphic designer at the University of the Arts Helsinki. The technical realization is by finnish Storia and danish Inlead. The advantage of the wayfinding screens is that they are easy to update compared to printed maps and they have the possibility of further development.
The wayfinding screen will show you
- Your own location
- Library’s opening hours
- Placements of the library materials in the shelves
- Location of library’s services
